56th SUMMER OF FUN 2012 preseason Update.

May 26th, 2012, the Pinecrest Swim Club, established in 1956, will open for its 56th season of summer fun. Please pay your annual dues by having them postmarked by May 1, 2011. We hope you are able to take advantage of the new and returning member recruitment payment discount by getting a new or returning member to pay their 2012 active dues. The Pinecrest Piranha Swim Team turned in a great season again as one of the elite teams in the GDSA, and they were proud representatives for our club. The newsletter, our website, and the calender list the many fun activities and social events planned for our members. Our manager, Chris Robin, and our excellent staff had another successful year. We were repeatedly complimented by the health department, members, and guests on the operation and condition of the pool and clubhouse. If you have concerns about anything at the pool, you should contact Chris directly and immediately so that he can take care of any problems. Here are just some of the things to look forward to in 2012:

SWIM TEAM: Congratulations again to all of the swimmers, parents, coaches, board members, and volunteers of our elite Pinecrest Piranhas Swim Team for their great job at the Greater Dayton Swimming Association League Championship Meet and their very successful tri-meet season in 2011.

Pinecrest also did a great job in hosting Semi-Finals for the fifth  year in a row.  The June home meet and the Semi-Finals brought large crowds to Pinecrest.  Once again this fantastic effort by everyone involved has earned respect for our team,  club, and community.

OPERATIONS: Manager Chris Robin, lifeguards, and staff have had a fine year in the operation of the pool and concession. The hot weather brought out our members who brought many guests. Chris has worked hard to very closely and safely manage our staff hours and wages in light of our overall financial situation. The pool and clubhouse are in overall very good shape, but every year brings new expenses. We had hailstorm damage to the roof, siding, and deck chairs. We had storm flooding that damaged the pool heater, and we had to repair the water main and deck cement, paint and line the pool, and the baby pool requires yearly repair. The main pool gutter grates need repainting. These yearly repairs and maintenance costs consume approximately $15,000 of our budget. Many of these repairs are required by the health department before we can open. The good news is that we receive compliments on the condition of the pool and the clubhouse from the health department, members, and guests.
